Lay down a large canvas in an open space, outdoors with lots of cool, windy air. Take all drawers, if any. You must paint all the pieces on the table separately. Unscrew the hardware from the desk with a screwdriver. Place the items in a safe place. Lay them down on the desk with a little soapy water and a sponge. Make sure you strip away all the soap and allow the desk to dry completely before painting.

Open the paint can with a screwdriver and stir for about three minutes with a paint stick. DIP a wide brush in the paint and paint with the grain across the large surface of the desk. Allow the paint to dry for about 24 to 48 hours, depending on the instructions on the paint can. Apply a second coat, making sure the paint with the grain. Close the hardware back to the desk drawers once the desk has completely dried.
