Bed tent is a fun and practical addition to a child’s bedroom. A tent over the bed can provide a sense of security and safety at night, allowing a child to fall asleep more easily. During the day it can be a place to play makes believe, turning a child’s room into a wilderness hideaway, a fortress or even a rocket. Commercial bed tents are sold in stores, but an inventive parent can make a single bed tent with just a few items, saving money and allowing for a custom fit.
Use poles to hold in the center of the tent. These posts can be a broom handle specially bought for the project, or actual broom or mop handle is available for the job. Secure the poles to the bed frame or main board by swirling it with rope. The drum strap can also be used to attach a rod to a fixed headboard or bed frame, as long as the strap is used on the back. Silver tape damages the wood surface, so do not use on the visible side of furniture.
