Arm Lamp – Wall lamps do not take up space on the floor and most are easy to install. Some take more time and common tools. Unlike wall lights or other wall-mounted lighting fixtures, wall lamps do not require connections with electrical wires in the walls.
The first step is to determine where to hang it. People sometimes put wall lamps in strange places because their strings are not close enough to an outlet. Plug the lamp and hold it where you want to mount it on the wall. Ask someone to hold the lamp plugged in where you want to mount it, then sit under the lamp and see if the light goes where you need it. This is important for tasks such as reading or sewing. If it is a moving arm lamp, stand up and make sure you do not hit the lamp on the way. Measure where to place the image hook for a light pin-up lamp, gently touch the hook on the wall and hang the lamp.

Measure where to place the wall bracket to fix the cover plate of a heavier wall lamp. The stand can sit as much as 1/2 in. Below the cover plate, so allow that. If you are installing in the middle of drywall or plasterboard, drill and install plastic anchors before screwing into the bracket so that the weight of the lamp does not pull the screws from the wall bracket. Screw the plate on the substrate using the hardware provided with the lamp.
