Bed coverlets are already the right size to cover your bed. It is easy to turn two sheets and one blanket into a warm and elegant bedspread. Second hand stores and yard sales are full of vintage leaves with unique designs. Or use white sheets you can color to match your decor.

Wash and squeeze the leaves and felt. Place the bed coverlets in a straight line. Place the felt on top so that it is two inches from the edge of the leaves on one side. Staple every three inches over the entire felt, through all three layers, with safety pins. This will hold together the layers for sewing and cutting. Cut so that blankets and sheets are the same size on three sides. Do not cut the side where you left two inches of home when locking. Sew along the three cut edges. Cut a diagonal corner of each end of the two-inch sheet hem on the fourth side. Press open seam allowance.
Remove all safety pins. Turn the bed coverlets right out, so that the right sides of the sheets show and the blanket is between them. Fold two inch hem on the open edge and hand sew it closed. Flat the blanket on the floor and use safety pins at four-inch intervals around the edges, catching all three layers. This will help keep the blanket in place during tying. Thread yarn on the big eye needle. Take a small seam through all three layers. Cut the yarn so that the two free ends are on one side. Repeat the entire surface of the blanket at three-inch intervals. Make sure the needle goes all the way through all the bearings and that the bands are all on one side of the bedspread.
